WOMEN IN ROTARY
Our district is striving to increase the number of female members, with a goal 50.3% female Rotarians in District 5950.  As of January 1, there are nine clubs over 40%, listed below, and another six clubs over 35%.  The Rotary Club of Edina Morningside is at 30% with the last five year trends noted below:

District Governor-Elect Irene Kelly will be leading a breakout session at the mid-term assembly titled "What’s at the ‘Heart’ of the Case for Women?"  She will discuss the following with club leaders and members:
  • What new ideas and initiatives has your club implemented this Rotary year to impact increasing your club's percentage female membership?
  • What changes has your club made this Rotary year to become more vibrant and attractive to prospective female members?
  • Is there a female member of your club that has made a significant or unique impact on your club this Rotary year, or in recent years?  If yes, please provide a brief description of this individual and their impact.
Thanks in advance for thinking how EMRC can increase our female membership.   And congratulations to the following clubs for attaining a high level of gender diversity: North Minneapolis 64.7%, Richfield 55.0%, SMME 54.2%, St. Michael-Albertville 50.0%, Chanhassen Evening 47.8%, Springfield 44.0%, Redwood Falls 43.45%, Crystal-New Hope-Robbinsdale 40.7% and Minneapolis-University 40.0%.

HAVING FUN
Below are John Flynn (Edina Noon Club), Andrew Gump, Paco (exchange student from Spain) and Tom Gump, who are enjoying the preparation for a big event!

The North America Pond Hockey Championship (NAPHC) will be held this coming Thursday-Sunday at Lake Minnetonka in Excelsior, MN.  Several years ago, John Flynn found a Zamboni that was for sale and he took contributions from neighbors and was able to purchase it.   It is stored at Youngstedts in Wayzata and will be used to ready the 21 ice rinks for this weeks tournament.

The NAPHC is hosted by the DWB Memorial Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) organization established in memory of David Wynn Bigham.   Last year, the NAPHC raised just over $200,000 to give back to the community and donated that money to ALS (MN, ND, SD chapter).    For information about the event and organization, please visit the website.

ROTARY CHAMBER MIXER
This Thursday, January 18th 5-7pm

At Edina Country Club - Appetizers served.  Please note the cash bar is cash only (no credit cards or checks).

The Rotary Club of Edina, the Edina Morningside Rotary Club and the Edina Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a joint prospective member event. The event is part of quarterly get-togethers sponsored by both Rotary clubs and the Chamber and will be a fun evening of community connection. All Rotarians and Chamber members should bring a guest to the gathering. Guests will learn more about these great local organizations, and have a chance to network with membership.

Non-members are cordially welcome to attend and see if Rotary or Chamber membership is for you. There are no hard sells or formal pitches--just a chance to meet great people in our community.

Sign up to attend through the Edina Chamber of Commerce registration page here
