The Rotary Club of Edina Morningside is part of an international grant partnering with Modular, Matter and the Rotary E-Club of Southern Africa (D9400).  Our funding will help bring critical health services to people living in an informal settlement in South Africa.   A fully equipped medical pod was pledged by Modular and Matter, and EMRC provided $7,500 in funding to assist with the transport of this medical container to its destination.   This is part of a project to establish a "Health Hub" for the Malusi informal settlement.  The medical pod has arrived in Africa and is being utilized!

Millions of people in South Africa live in informal settlements – houses built from corrugated iron or scrap metal, without running water, sanitation or electricity in their homes.   Health hubs were developed in two other informal settlement sites near Pretoria, one in 2013 and one in 2017.  Offering local health and social support, education and access to medical care and nutritional supplementation has already demonstrated a significant positive impact in these two communities.
