OUR NEXT BOOK DISCUSSION
Monday, April 19th at 5:00 p.m.

The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee will hold its next book discussion on Monday, April 5th, at 5:00 p.m. They will discuss Chapter 4 (Biology) of Ibram Kendi's book How to Be an Antiractist.

EMRC is part of the community-based discussion around Racial Equity and Justice hosted by the Edina Community Foundation. On behalf of our club, Andrea Humphrey and Mary Brindle are participating in community conversations led by the foundation.

The EMRC Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committee will present a series discussions, sharing fellowship and learning about the challenges we encounter when learning about race equity and justice. We will use a variety of resources (books, Ted Talks, other discussions) to help deepen our understanding of the concept of unconscious bias and how it plays a role in the context of our society. The topic of racial inequity and injustice is a difficult topic of discussion. We will also use a book discussion format to focus our conversations and our learning.

If you'd like additional information, please contact Andrea Humphrey or Mary Brindle.

SUMMER CAMP ENTERPRISE
Enrollment through Edina Community Education.

Camp Enterprise, the entrepreneurial workshop hosted by Edina Morningside Rotary and Edina Rotary for more than 25 years, is launching a new camp for students entering 8th, 9th and 10th grade. Drawing on the success of Camp Enterprise, this new camp will take place from June 21-24, 2021, and is a partnership between Edina Morningside Rotary Club, Edina Rotary Club, Edina Rotaract and Edina Community Education.  Volunteers are needed for case study mentors, speakers and program directors from the "National Lemon Growers Association".

Case Study mentors: Rotarians will be paired with Rotaractors from Edina Rotaract to guide team members in their process.
Daily Speakers: At the start of each day, a speaker will recap the work done the previous day and prepare students for the new progress they will make in the current day.
Toastmasters: Toastmasters volunteers will be available to help team members hone their public speaking skills, aiming at the project objectives laid out by the "National Lemon Growers Association".
Videographer: Record presentations for future use.
Lemon Growers: Role Playing the Lemon Growers representatives, develop a piece to promote this project to students, focusing on the purpose of the project, and the goal of community development through young entrepreneurship.

There's something for everyone! So lend a hand and have some fun.  Watch here for more information about the summer camp.

Contact Mary Brindle, Camp Enterprise 2021 Chair, if you'd like to volunteer or help organize this new summer camp.

2020-21 LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SERIES

Next Topic: Values Based Leadership
Tuesday, April 20th, 6:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m.

Please join The Rotary Club of Edina’s Leadership Series in April as we welcome Paul Mooty, Vice-Chairman and Partner at the Faribault Woolen Mill Company to share an interactive learning experience entitled Values Based Leadership… “Who Are You and What Do You Stand For?” This session is open to the public so please forward this to your friends, colleagues, and employees so that can benefit as well. See you there!

WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU STAND FOR?
How to trust who you are and your values to guide you

There are many ways to lead.  Many of us have worked under, heard about, studied, and probably tried to emulate many of these differing leadership styles.  Some believe that they must adapt their approach to mirror a leader they admire in order to be successful.  Much can be learned from others, but it can be difficult to model your leadership approach completely after someone else's. In this session our speaker will be discussing a leadership approach rooted in who you are and what matters most to you.  We will discuss:

·         Basic principles of Values Based Leadership

·         Perspectives, learnings and examples from Paul's own journey

Please join The Rotary Club of Edina’s Leadership Development Series. These sessions are offered as part of membership development, promoting leadership skill development, goal setting, career planning, problem solving skills, and networking. All sessions are open to the public so please forward this to your friends, colleagues, and employees so that can benefit as well.

Watch for details about the talk and the registration link here.
Meeting the 3rd Tuesday of each month, this year’s program will continue with strong content delivered by seasoned professionals in an environment that will foster both relationship and leadership development, including the opportunity to form meaningful career mentor-mentee relationships. If you are interested in improving your effectiveness and expanding your network to include growth minded leaders like yourself, this series is for you.

Hosted by Robb Breding of Edina Rotary.
