OUR NEXT MEETING
Tuesday, November 28th, 7:30 a.m. at the Edina Country Club, 5100 Wooddale Ave., Edina

Chief Executive Officer at Solhem Companies Curt Gunsbury will speak about the Fred Apartments.

Finance & Commerce wrote this about Curt Gunsbury: "Curt Gunsbury’s apartment projects contain elements of his varied passions. They focus on energy efficiency, sustainability, and clean energy mixed with contemporary design graced by paintings and architecture.Gunsbury, a former special education teacher, owns Solhem Companies. While many of Solhem’s apartments are built in Minneapolis, it has branched out to Edina and Rochester. The apartment buildings have several common characteristics. Gunsbury said they consume 30% less energy than direct competitors, and it verifies the claim through an Xcel Energy program. The efficiency comes from many small changes such as tweaking bathroom fans and garage lighting and installing better windows on the south sides of buildings to reduce heat exposure and save on air conditioning."

District 46B State Representative Cheryl Youakim

I met Peter during one of the community conversations that I hold at the local library as a State Representative. We subsequently had coffee and found out that we had Rotary in common. I used to be a member of the Minnetonka Rotary years ago. Peter invited me to an Edina Morningside meeting and I was very impressed with the club.

For information about Rotary membership, please contact Peter Williams.

True Friends Camp Courage in Maple Lake was the site of this year's Camp Enterprise. The Rotary Club of Edina and Edina Morningside Rotary Club hosted the three-day camp for 88 junior and senior high school students. The experience is designed to introduce students to the free enterprise system and encourage entrepreneurship and ethical business practices. Robb Breding of the Rotary Club of Edina was the Chair. Edina Morningside's Michael Birdman was the Co-Chair.
The camp began on Thursday, Nov. 2nd, and came to a close on Saturday, Nov 4th, when five $1000 college scholarships were awarded at the final presentation.
CONGRATULATIONS TED AND JAMIE!

After college, Jamie moved to Minneapolis and started a career in the re-insurance industry.  In May 2021 they were engaged and Saturday, November 4th they were married. Ted and Jamie are traveling in New Zealand for their honeymoon.

ROTARY AND DEI
Rotary strives for the fair treatment and advancement of all Rotary participants. Embracing equity means carefully considering how to provide differing levels of support, opportunities, and resources so participants have a welcoming and productive experience.

When we embrace equity, we create an environment built on respect and dignity for all participants.

Watch for more to come in the coming weeks on this topic!
