JUNE 7, VOCATIONAL/AVOCATIONAL HAPPY HOUR, The District Edina, featuring Betsy Kumagai and Edina A Better Chance

Betsy Kumagai the executive director of Edina ABC will introduce the Edina version of A Better Chance along with showcasing Jerimiah, a graduate of the Edina program and a new addition to the Edina Police department. The event is held at 7777 Washington Avenue in Edina - the venue is called The District Edina. There is a social time from 5:30-6, then at 6 introductions are made by all in attendance - so at 6:15 or so the speaker is on to share about your organization. Plan for 15-25 minutes and feel free to address questions either at the end or as they come up. It’s a casual group, but a great venue for sharing your story.

Rotarians in action at the May 23rd club meeting!

SUMMER COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT

Monday, June 26th, at 7:30 a.m., Braemar Golf Course Club House

Once again, we will use our annual golf tournament as a springboard for our highly successful, and fun, community service project of assembling 500 personal hygiene kits within 30 minutes. (Yes, Rotarians rock!)

The kits will be donated to StreetWorks, a local non-profit, for distribution to the homeless. You can participate by showing up at the Braemar Golf Course Club House on Monday, June 26th , at 7:30 a.m.

SteetWorks is a collaborative of youth-serving nonprofits that have provided street-based outreach to youth experiencing homelessness in the Metro area since 1994. It is the largest outreach collaborative in Minnesota focused on ending youth homelessness.

StreetWorks provides a coordinated intervention to meet the immediate needs of youth and to interrupt exploitation by providing valuable resources, connection to services, and regular interaction with a trustworthy adult.

Due to the golf tournament, there is no weekly meeting on Tuesday, June 27th . So, if you’re not golfing in the tournament, just consider this as attending your weekly meeting one day early. Same time, different venue. There’s always a lot of fun chatter and connecting, while putting the kits together.

PATRICK D. KENNEDY MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT

7th Annual Edina Morningside Rotary / Pat Kennedy Golf Classic

Good Morning,

We are only 28 days away from our annual golf tournament to raise funds for our outreach grants. Last year was a smashing success and we want to repeat that success again this year.

So, to do that we need golfers and sponsors.

First, we are doing really well with sponsors by already raising almost $15,000.00 dollars but my goal is to get to $23,000.00 in sponsorships. Please consider helping us reach this goal. FOURTH OF JULY PARADE

March with Rotary on the Fourth!

Will you be in town on the 4th of July? Would you like help educate Edina 4th of July Parade spectators about Rotary and have a lot of fun in the process? Then join a group of us who will be walking in the parade.

Two EMRC members will lead the pack holding an EMRC banner. The rest of us will walk behind them while holding signs that have brief messages about Rotary: Community Service; People of Action; Local Grants; Networking; Making New Friends; Welcoming; Inclusive; Leadership Development; etc.

This is also a great event in which to include family and friends. We will meet at City Hall at 9:30 a.m. If interested, please watch for a registration link coming soon. Registration is important so we make sure that everyone has a sign to carry and that we don’t spend time and money making too many signs.
