At the EMRC Family Picnic: Tuesday, September 5th, at Arneson Acres, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Once again, we will collect children’s books at our annual family picnic on September 5th. The books will be donated to the Minnesota chapter of Reach Out and Read, a non-profit that partners with pediatric health care providers to educate parents of infants on the importance of reading and provide them with free books to take home. More than 80% of a child’s brain is formed during their first three years. Starting at birth, reading with children puts them on a path to success. It creates strong parent-child bonds and promotes healthy brain development. Please bring one or more books for children age new-born to three years to the picnic. If you won’t be able to attend the picnic you can still donate by bringing book(s) to the August 22nd or 29th meeting. Books written in Spanish or Somali are especially needed. You can find them at Wild Rumpus, a locally-owned children’s bookstore in Linden Hills.
