OUR NEXT SPEAKER: EARTH DAY
Tuesday, April 27, 7:30 a.m.
Kaycee Stanley, Reel Hope Project

There Is Nothing More Powerful Than a Story

Our goal is to make a video for every child in Minnesota who is waiting to be adopted. We receive referrals to make videos for children who need adoptive families.

We travel across the state of Minnesota to meet these kids and capture their stories. We treat each child to a fun activity that matches their interests, and create a compelling video that celebrates the qualities that make them unique.

We deploy a search party for each child, sharing their reel on our website and social platforms to reach as many families as possible. The Reel Hope Project shares about Minnesota’s waiting kids at events and faith communities each week, while social workers use reels to introduce amazing kids to potential adoptive families.

OUR NEXT BOOK DISCUSSION
Monday, May 3rd at 5:00 p.m.

The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee will hold its next book discussion on Monday, April 5th, at 5:00 p.m. They will discuss Chapter 5 (Ethnicity) of Ibram Kendi's book How to Be an Antiractist.

EMRC is part of the community-based discussion around Racial Equity and Justice hosted by the Edina Community Foundation. On behalf of our club, Mary Brindle is participating in community conversations led by the foundation.

The EMRC Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committee will present a series discussions, sharing fellowship and learning about the challenges we encounter when learning about race equity and justice. We will use a variety of resources (books, Ted Talks, other discussions) to help deepen our understanding of the concept of unconscious bias and how it plays a role in the context of our society. The topic of racial inequity and injustice is a difficult topic of discussion. We will also use a book discussion format to focus our conversations and our learning.

If you'd like additional information, please contact Mary Brindle.

2020-21 LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SERIES

Next Topic: Values Based Leadership
Tuesday, April 20th, 6:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m.

Please join The Rotary Club of Edina’s Leadership Series in April as we welcome Paul Mooty, Vice-Chairman and Partner at the Faribault Woolen Mill Company to share an interactive learning experience entitled Values Based Leadership… “Who Are You and What Do You Stand For?” This session is open to the public so please forward this to your friends, colleagues, and employees so that can benefit as well. Click here to register.

WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU STAND FOR?
How to trust who you are and your values to guide you

There are many ways to lead.  Many of us have worked under, heard about, studied, and probably tried to emulate many of these differing leadership styles.  Some believe that they must adapt their approach to mirror a leader they admire in order to be successful.  Much can be learned from others, but it can be difficult to model your leadership approach completely after someone else's. In this session our speaker will be discussing a leadership approach rooted in who you are and what matters most to you.  We will discuss:

·         Basic principles of Values Based Leadership

·         Perspectives, learnings and examples from Paul's own journey
