Dear District 5950 Rotarians:

Our district is holding its first ever district-wide event to help eradicate polio - “The Amazing Race (to End Polio) Scavenger Hunt!"  This interactive, virtual event will be held on World Polio Day, October 24, 2020, from 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

Partner up with a family member, fellow Rotarian or friend and create a team of two for this fun event to raise polio awareness. Teams will race against each other to find or perform ten items in their local communities that are (loosely) tied to Rotary's polio efforts.  The list will go out to participants at 8:45 AM before the race begins.  The team of two allows for one to be Zooming while the other is engaging in the activity.  A panel of hosts will be on the Zoom event running commentary, video snippets related to polio and general gibberish. The first team that secures all ten items will be awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship donated from Club points.  You don’t need a team to be part of the Zoom event. Just register yourself and your team (if you have a team) and you will receive the Zoom link.

REGISTRATION:

IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE SCAVENGER HUNT, PLEASE REGISTER EACH MEMBER OF YOUR TEAM AT WWW.ROTARY5950.ORG UNDER “EVENTS” AND INCLUDE YOUR TEAM NAME/THE NAMES OF YOUR TEAM MEMBERS IN THE COMMENT BOX.

**Please note that all local social distance and mask guidelines need to be followed while participating.**

Teams will make a pledge for $0.10 to End Polio Now.  Yes, ten cents.  This is the cost of one dose of oral polio vaccine that will protect a child against polio.  The goal of this event is promoting Rotary’s number one effort in the world - ending polio!  To learn more about our efforts, to make a donation, join us in raising awareness or donating your time, please visit https://www.endpolio.org/.  Teams can contact Tim Mulcrone for bling, such as brochures, shirts, paddle-signs, etc.  Tim's cell phone number is:  (952) 239-1594.

We owe special thanks to (i) Rotary International District 5950 Polio Chair Tim Mulcrone for organizing the event and (ii) District 5950 Rotarian John Crudele for handling the technology requirements for the event!

I look forward to "seeing you" on World Polio Day!

Yours in Rotary Service,

Tom Gump
