Warm Hands, Warm Heads, Warm Hearts is a wonderful project led by the Rotary Club of Edina Morningside.

Started by Ted Field 30 years ago, the project has been led most recently by Paul Nelson. 9,000 hats and gloves were recevied and sorted to distribute to 17 area Rotary Clubs for subsequent donation to area schools and other organizations. Over 500,000 people have been helped since the program started.

Hats and mittens from EMRC were distributed to the YMCA, Edina Public Schools, the Edina country clubs winter clothing drive, M Health Fairview Southdale's emergency room, Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, Minnesota Council of Churches, Salvation Army of the North, Beacon (via Jim Bizal's church) and Risen Christ school.

Pictured is past-president, Steve May delivering hats and gloves to Risen Christ school (4 blocks east of George Floyd Square). The hats and gloves we donated will go a long way to helping the scholars stay warm this winter.

Also pictured is James DeLong, Director of Advancement and Gene Washington, former Viking great. Steve's words: "Gene Washington was extraordinarily kind and humble. He radiated gratitude. When you’re doing a Rotary project you better be prepared for an astonishing moment because the people you will meet will amaze you."
