The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee will hold its first meeting, a book discussion, on Monday, February 22, at 5:00 p.m. We will discuss the book's Introduction and Chapter 1: Definitions.
EMRC is part of the community-based discussion around Racial Equity and Justice hosted by the Edina Community Foundation. On behalf of our club, Andrea Humphrey and Mary Brindle are participating in community conversations led by the foundation.
The EMRC Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committee will present a series discussions, sharing fellowship and learning about the challenges we encounter when learning about race equity and justice. We will use resources from "Creating a Better Story," the three-part series hosted by Rotary District 5950 to help deepen our understanding of the concept of unconscious bias and how it plays a role in the context of our society. The topic of racial inequity and injustice is a difficult topic of discussion. We will also use a book discussion format to focus our conversations and our learning.
