Our condolences are extended to Paula Schwartz and her family for the passing of her father.  Dr. Paul Newell Youngdale passed away Dec. 16, at the grand age of 89.

He was a very kind man who believed in academic excellence and service to others. Born to Paul and Dorothy Youngdale May 20, 1928, in Elkader, Iowa, Paul served in the U.S. Army between World War II and the Korean War and later graduated from Pacific University with a degree in optometry.

Paul began his practice in Beaver Dam in 1953 and served the community faithfully until his retirement in 1994. He lent his leadership to many organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America, Kiwanis, the Freemasons, the YMCA, Grace Presbyterian Church, and the National Board of Examiners of Optometry. A hardworking man who loved gardening, the outdoors and all that is Wisconsin (Go Pack!), he left behind a legacy of excellence. His family was with him toward the end, and we rest in the knowledge that he is now home in a new body in the glorious presence of our savior.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dorothy; sisters, Nancy Padfield and Pat Goplen; his wife, Marian Youngdale and his wife, Shirley Youngdale.

He is loved by his sons, Eric Paul of Newark, Delaware, and David Jon of San Antonio, Texas; and daughters, Paula Lynn Schwartz of Mendota Heights, Minnesota, and Bobbie Sue Schwartz and Erin Braun of Beaver Dam.

A private ceremony will be held by family at a future date.  Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at koepsellfh.com.
